- 3/4 cup Ghee
- 1 cup Milk
- 3/4 cup Sugar or according to taste

- Pinch saffron or colour
- 1/2 tsp elaichi powder
Instructions to make Moong Dal Halwa
- Measure the dal,wash it until the water runs clear.
- Soak it for 5 hours. During this time (soak),dal will swell.After the desired soak time, drain water and once again rinse the dal well.
- Transfer dal/ lentils to a jar and grind it to fine paste with Hand Grinder. (Food Processor)It should be fine in texture like a paste.
- Dissolve colour or saffron in milk.Heat ghee in the heavy bottom pan. Add dal & sauteing.
- Soon dal will soak up all the ghee and become thick. For soft halwa keep adding milk at regular intervals.
- Keep stirring do not leave dal unattended, as it may stick to the bottom of Pan.
- Add elaichi powder.
- Finally add sugar cook until sugar is well blended with dal mixture. Serve warm garnished with nuts.
