- 1 kg mawa
- 4-5 dried coconut without water
- 250 gms Musk melon seeds dried
- 800 grams sugar
- 150 gms almonds
- 1-2 tsp elaichi powder
- 1.5 litre water
Instructions to make Coconut Mawa Barfi
- Add 1 tsp ghee in a pan saute mawa until slightly golden brown.
- Remove the brown skin of coconuts and then grate them to a grainy texture.
- Slightly sauté the Musk melon seeds in 1tsp of ghee until they start crackling or slightly golden brown and soak the almonds in warm water for 15 mins then peel them and cut into thin slices
- Add sugar to 1. 5 litre water and stir well to make sugar syrup or chashni just the consistency used in Jalebis so as to bind all the ingredients together while mixing. Let it cool for 5-6 mins.
- Take a big pan add Mawa, then coconuts and seeds and mix them really well then add sugar syrup as per tastes and instantly mix all the ingredients nicely to a nice barfi consistency.
- Add elaichi powder to the mixture for nice flavour and the sliced almonds(keep 2-3tsp of sliced almonds aside for garnishing) And again mix everything well.
- Take a deep dish /plate grease it with little bit of ghee and pour the mixture into the plate. Spread it evenly and and almonds for garnishing on top. Let this sit for about 20 - 25 minutes. Under cool temperature or fan.
- Now it is ready to cut and serve. Cut it into nice squares and serve. Coconut Mawa barfi is ready. Enjoy with family and friends.
