- 1 1/2 cup yellow moong dal (washed and drained)
- 1 cup ghee
- 1 cup sugar(adjust according to taste)
- 2 tbsp raisins
- 2 tbsp chopped almonds
- 2 tbsp chopped cashews
- 1 tsp cardamom powder
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cup water
Instructions to make Instant Moong Dal Halwa
- Heat 3 tsp ghee in a non stick pan on low medium heat. Add washed and drained moong dal and saute for 4-5 mins on medium flame or till it starts changing the colour.
- Keep it aside and let it cool down completely.
- Meanwhile we will make sugar syrup for making halwa.
- In a pan, mix water,milk and sugar and boil it on low medium heat till sugar dissolves completely.
- Now switch off the flame and keep this mixture aside.
- Now take moong dal in a mixer jar and blend it for 2-3 pulse and make a coarse powder of moong dal.
- Now in a pan heat 1 tbsp ghee and add nuts, saute till golden brown or till raisins get swollen.
- Add moong dal powder and saute for 2-3 mins.
- Now add sugar syrup in 2-3 batches and keep stirring well.
- Add leftover ghee, cardamom powder and keep stirring. Cook for 4-5 mins and instant moong dal halwa is ready.
- Garnish with some nuts and serve hot.
