The concept of carrot halwa, came to India , from Arabian countries and became popular, all over India. It is prepared by two methods. One with hot milk or with mawa (milk solid)
I have prepared carrot halwa by using milk as well as condensed milk. Sugar used is according to taste. I used a little more condensed and reduced addition of sugar.
Ingredients and spices that need to be Make ready to make Carrot Halwa:
- 2 cup, grated, carrots (500 gms)
- 4 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
- 1 handful chopped almonds and kismis
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 3/4 cup, condensed milk
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tsp cardamom and clove powder
Steps to make Carrot Halwa
- Remove the skin of carrots, wash and grate them. Chop the almonds. Grind fresh is cardamom and cloves.
- Heat ghee on a wok. Fry dry fruits. Add grated carrot, fry them.
- Mix sugar and salt. Fry for a minute and then add a cup of milk. Mix well and cook covered for 2 minutes on low to medium flame.
- Add condensed milk and mix well. Cook continuously. When the carrots, about to come together, add cardamom and cloves.
- The carrot halwa is ready to serve. Serve hot/cold and enjoy.
