This is a simple but delicious meal. Shira is semolina halwa (sweet) and puri is fried flatbread. This is a special bhog(naivedya) for Nagpanchmi festival.

- 2 cups wheat flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp powdered sugar
- Oil for frying
- For shira(semolina Halwa)-
- 1 cup semolina
- 3/4 cup ghee(clarified butter)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp cardamom powder
- 1 tbsp badam mix powder
- For Paneer curry -
- 200 gm paneer(Indian cottage cheese)
- 1/4 cup saoji masala paste
- Oil a required
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chilli powder
Instructions to make Shira Puri Thali
- For preparing shira-
- Dry roast sooji(semolina) in microwave for 2min
- Heat ghee in a kadhai
- Add sooji
- Saute for 4-5min
- Add 1 cup of hot water
- Mix and cook for 1min till all water gets absorbed
- Now add sugar
- Stir well till sugar gets dissolved, cover and cook for 3-4 min on low flame
- Now add readymade badam mix powder and cardamom powder
- Shira is ready
- Now for paneer gravy - keep ready saoji masala paste.I have shared the link for the same
- Heat oil in a kadhai
- Add masala paste
- Add all dry spices
- Mix everything well
- Add paneer pieces and 1 cup of hot water
- Cook for 5min
- Paneer curry is ready
- Now for preparing puri- in a bowl add wheat flour,salt and sugar
- Gradually add water and make a tight dough
- Divide in small round shape balls
- Roll like a small chapati with a rolling pin
- Deep fry in hot oil
- Serve hot puri with paneer curry,shira, readymade motichur ladoo and tomato salad. Enjoy authentic Maharashtratrian meal
