- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups milk powder
- 1 cup ghee or sunflower oil
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped dry fruits like pista, almonds,cashews,raisins
- 1 tsp cardamom powder
Steps to make Gajar ka Halwa
- Peel the carrots, rinse in cold water & then grate them.
- Switch on the gas & place a large kadai on it.Add ghee & then the grated carrot in it.
- Stir well for15-20 mints till the water in it evaporates & the raw smell of carrots disappear.
- Then add the milk,stir & cover with a lid.Let it simmer over low heat for 30 mints till the carrots are cooked.
- Add the sugar & stir continuously,making sure that the carrots do not start to stick.
- For a thicker khoya(cream) taste, add some milk powder, cardamom powder,stir well to mix & let the carrots cook over low heat for 10 mints.
- Turn off the flame & let the halwa sit covered for 10 mints.
- Add the chopped dry fruits & mix.
- Transfer the delicious Gajar Halwa to a serving plate & Garnish with chopped dry fruits like almonds,pesta,cashews.
- Serve hot or cold.It is served hot during winter
